If you have been following the story of Lilly, her long ordeal is finally over and the great adventure of her new life has
begun. What began as a life of suffering on the streets of a small, Caribbean island ends with a loving home near Charleston, South Carolina.
After three months of treatment and rehab, Lilly has made dramatic changes. Her scars have healed, she’s begun to gain weight, and her fur has come in a beautiful chocolate color.
When her new family came down to Culebra, Puerto Rico, to meet her it was love at first sight as Lilly greeted Kim with a big kiss. The following day she headed off to the beach in a Volkswagon Thing for a day of fun and sun while bonding with her new owners Jim and Kim.

Worn out from a day frolicking the waves, Lilly had an early start as she boarded the 6:30am ferry to the main island of Puerto Rico. Next, was a stop at the vet’s, where she had spent a month recovering from heartworm, mange, tapeworm, and getting spayed. The veterinarian staff couldn’t believe Lilly’s great transformation!

After a tearful goodbye with foster mom Terrie, Lilly, Kim, and Jim were off for the hour’s drive to San Juan. Once at the airport they would board separate flights up to Charlotte, NC where they would pick up Lilly and then drive about three hours back to South Carolina rolling into Lilly’s new home just after midnight.

Subsequent calls and emails have confirmed that Lilly, Kim, Jim, and Lilly’s new pal, kitty Raul, are adjusting well. Lilly has now met squirrels, been to two pet shops, and will soon be taking a boat ride and meeting more new friends at the local dog park.

AWC is so proud of this wonderful ending to Lilly’s story. Many thanks to all involved in saving Lilly!
