Animal Welfare of Culebra (AWC) is seeking a traveler SJU to BOS on any airline to escort a small pup to his new family. Whitey (aka Ziggy) will travel in a soft-sided carrier under the seat. AWC will make his airline reservation, pay his fee, & provide all travel documents. His adoptive family will pick him up at Logan airport in BOS.

As the pup’s adoption is confirmed, we’d like to have him get to his new family asap. Please contact us if you can help.

Whitey is approx 3.5 mos. He was found left at the dump & came running over, wagging his tail to a kind soul working there ready to be friends.

He loves dogs, cats, children & just paling around! He’s cute & spunky, but wears himself right out, too. His Might you be his special forever family?

Sandy is about two years old & is a Shepard mix, however is small & weighs in at only about 40 pounds.

She loves to be around people & is just searching for a family to call her own.

Sheeba had been abandoned several times in her short life & is a shy & gentle girl who just wants a special family of her own.

Reina was abandoned with her new litter of puppies. She was thin & sick & still, even then excited to meet new friends. Now, Reina is well on her way to health & is looking for her forever family!

Lola will have swell new parents Shelly & John, who met her while staying at the Palmetto Guest House, where she fostered overnight on evening!Lola is a quiet, loving girl. She loves to be with people & enjoys being petted more than anything! She is soft & gentle & is very submissive & it doesn’t take long before she’s a cuddle bug and a really sincere friend.

Lola’s foster mom is teacher her some “cues” & she is as smart as she is sweet!

She wants you to pick her. Or even just pet her. Or even just glance her way!

She’s a genuinely sweet, sweet dog who’s a little shy at first, but really just relishes gentle attention. It’s amazing, in fact, that she’s so darling, because Dyzzy has been abandoned several times over. Some dogs would be traumatized for years by that, but Dyzzy is just silently hoping to become somebody’s new dog.

Dyzzy likes other dogs, however she hasn’t really lived with cats, so she’s not sure how she feels about them.  She’s a sweet little love bear, and she made it through alot in her short life just to meet someone who’ll give her a home!

Marley’s face looks a little bit like a Muppet’s, but just wait until you see her happy dance! Then you’ll be convinced she’s a Muppet. Her paw shuffle makes her look like someone else is moving her.

A yummy treat is all it takes for her to indulge you in this fantastic show. It’s even more fun to see once you learn this sweet little girl was dumped by her former owners who likely contained her to an outside patio without much care. Seeing her so animated and carefree reminds you how precious and resilient life is.

Marley bonds quickly with people. She is cheerful and she’s a very bright and curious girl, always exploring her environment.

Marley gets along well with other dogs, and is good with cats too. She is about two years old, spayed, and up to date on all vaccines.  If you’ll be her first and forever home, she’ll treat you to her happy dance every day.

Who wouldn’t want a dog who’s full of life and fun, and is ever so happy to greet you?

Lucy was dropped over the fence at midnight at the Palmetto GH with her pal Marley. The frightened little girl soon got over her fear & after an evening sleeping in her crate, bounded out full of kisses in the am.

She and is full of love to give. She’ll bounce over to the gate in her foster yard when someone’s coming- she’s so excited! Lucy loves being petted by people she knows and gets along well with other dogs (she is fostering with two now).

Lucy is approximately 8-12 months (as of 11/8). She is about 18 pound & full grown, but may put on a few more pounds as she was a bit underweight when she came to AWC.

She has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccines & loves playing, kissing, & being petted. Lucy is a cheerful, sweet girl with a face that will melt your heart. Please contact us if Lucy might be just the pup that you are looking for!

Leo is a darling little fellow who was found by some boys & dropped off at his foster family’s home. He was just 3 weeks & his (great!) foster mom bottle fed him, getting up through-out the night & all day long. He gained weight quickly & socialized well with his foster family & their dog.

Fast forward & Leo is now going on 8 weeks (as of 11/8). He has had his first set of vaccines, & is “advanced” re: crate training & housebreaking. He also wags his tail whenever around his big brother and wants to play with him.

Leo is teething, but understands the cue, “no bite” & is happy to chew on his favorite pet stuffed penguin, a knotted towel, & a rope bone.

He likes to be around people, but also will happily amuse himself as he is smart & a very quick learner! He loves giving kisses & is seeking his forever home where he can cuddle!

Initially, there wasn’t even a good spot to pat these poor pups as they were so bonny & starved.

After an angel named, Elena, volunteered to foster these sweet dogs, they began with three regular meals daily. They eventually, were completely cleaned up & rid of all fleas & ticks & their patches in their fur began to grow back & become soft.

One evening about two months after their rescue, Sonny came along for foks to meet at an informational chat on the “whats, whys, & hows” of AWC to a group of tourists who were on island for a writer’s workshop. The next day, a friend of one of attendees got in touch to hear more about Sonny & Bella.

After careful consideration, the family decided to adopt both dogs together. Reports back from state that they are the “sweetest dogs ever!” & AWC is so very pleased that Sonny & Bella now have the loving family that they deserve!
