Lilly Heads to Culebra for Rest & Rehab
If you have been following the story of Lilly the chocolate lab, then you’ll know that a little over a month ago she literally collapsed on the sidewalk from dehydration, heart worm, mange, and malnutrition. The picture below is how she was found.

We are extremely happy to report, after a month at Dr. Delgado’s office in Fajardo Lilly has been treated for her ailments and today she looks amazing and is going to make someone a fabulous pet.

She will be with us on Culebra for a mandtory three weeks (to finish heart worm treatment) and after that she will be ready to be adopted to her forever home. (Contact us if you would like to adopt her!)

We would be remiss if we did not thank those who helped to contribute financially to Lilly’s treatment. A special thank you goes to all of you who so kindly donated and contributed to her care.

Animal Welfare of Culebra does amazing work with very limited funds (no outside grants or federal money), if you would like to donate to our ongoing work , please visit the support page.

God bless you for your amazing efforts in helping this tremendous animal. Bless her heart. God love you all for your rescuing and helping her. She will forever be grateful and bless the hearts of whoever adopts her.
Thank you so much for sharing this story. This is the dog of my dreams - the one we’ll get once we have the space she needs. Lilly looks happy now!
Lilly’s healthy and beautiful looking. I hope she finds a loving family soon.
That is great news. Wow if i did not have 3 kids of my own i would take her in a heart beat.
She looks like a completely different dog! So sad she was found that way but very lucky to to have been saved. Way to go! You are true heroes. Keep up the great work!
Oh My she is so healthy. I hope she finds a great home. I have a chocolate chihuahua named Lily…God Bless you all for your work
What a beautiful dog! I pray that she will have a good home eventually. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m from Denmark and have a “one dog only” rule in my building association, I would take her in a heartbeat! Who would’nt want to have her…Such a sweetie.
What a wonderful thing you have done. What a desperate soul she was and now what a beautiful girl she has become.
I’m sure you have many in line to take her home!
Kudos,
Susan Stott
You’d never know that it was the same dog! A wonderful and remarkable change for the better.
Oh she looks soooo good! That’s awesome!!
OMG!!! Lily looks amazing! You both should be sooo proud on the amazing change you have made…the amazing DIFFERENCE you have made in Lily’s life. Thank you! Love to Lily, and to you both.

My friend Amy Mays is on vacation there and sent me your information. Lilly is just beautiful, and I can tell she’s beautiful on the inside, too! There is a special place in heaven for all of you at Culebra Animal Welfare.
I do have the room, live in SacrMento and would be willing to take her in as part of our family! Let me know if she wants to come?
What a nice looking dog. God bless you for the care and love you’ve been giving Lilly. She looks really good compared to the way she was found. I know she appreciates the care and love you’ve shared with her. May she find a nice and loving home and have a very happy life. She deserves that after what she’s been through. I have 4 dogs. Two which are Rescue dogs. God Bless you!
You can see in her eyes how different she is now…such a great story. I am glad my 3 are rescues…I know she will find a good home.
She has a place in my heart if not my home
My beloved Choco-Lab, Sammy Davis Jr., died last year on October 11th, leaving behind Maxie Dean (Malte-Poo) and Pugsley Addams (Pug). I miss Sammy every single day. Lilly looks so much like my Chocolate Defender. Whomever is lucky enough to adopt her, I have no doubt she will be the best fur-kid they’ve ever had. There’s just something so special about Choco-Labs!
P.S. All my fur-kids have been ADOPTED and not bought. ADOPT don’t SHOP!
Lily is adorable. I just happened upon this story. Has she been adopted yet? I can’t take her, just want to know…
awesome work!! so happy for the girl!!
