Lilly Heads to Culebra for Rest & Rehab

If you have been following the story of Lilly the chocolate lab, then you’ll know that a little over a month ago she literally collapsed on the sidewalk from dehydration, heart worm, mange, and malnutrition. The picture below is how she was found.

Lilly Before

We are extremely happy to report, after a month at Dr. Delgado’s office in Fajardo Lilly has been treated for her ailments and today she looks amazing and is going to make someone a fabulous pet.

Lilly After

She will be with us on Culebra for a mandtory three weeks (to finish heart worm treatment) and after that she will be ready to be adopted to her forever home. (Contact us if you would like to adopt her!)

Lilly after relaxing on Culebra

We would be remiss if we did not thank those who helped to contribute financially to Lilly’s treatment. A special thank you goes to all of you who so kindly donated and contributed to her care.

Lilly needs a home!

Animal Welfare of Culebra does amazing work with very limited funds (no outside grants or federal money), if you would like to donate to our ongoing work , please visit the support page.

What a beautiful dog! I pray that she will have a good home eventually. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m from Denmark and have a “one dog only” rule in my building association, I would take her in a heartbeat! Who would’nt want to have her…Such a sweetie.

What a wonderful thing you have done. What a desperate soul she was and now what a beautiful girl she has become.

I’m sure you have many in line to take her home!

    Kudos,

My friend Amy Mays is on vacation there and sent me your information. Lilly is just beautiful, and I can tell she’s beautiful on the inside, too! There is a special place in heaven for all of you at Culebra Animal Welfare.

  13. I do have the room, live in SacrMento and would be willing to take her in as part of our family! Let me know if she wants to come?

  14. What a nice looking dog. God bless you for the care and love you’ve been giving Lilly. She looks really good compared to the way she was found. I know she appreciates the care and love you’ve shared with her. May she find a nice and loving home and have a very happy life. She deserves that after what she’s been through. I have 4 dogs. Two which are Rescue dogs. God Bless you!

My beloved Choco-Lab, Sammy Davis Jr., died last year on October 11th, leaving behind Maxie Dean (Malte-Poo) and Pugsley Addams (Pug). I miss Sammy every single day. Lilly looks so much like my Chocolate Defender. Whomever is lucky enough to adopt her, I have no doubt she will be the best fur-kid they’ve ever had. There’s just something so special about Choco-Labs!

P.S. All my fur-kids have been ADOPTED and not bought. ADOPT don’t SHOP!
